Penn State Altoona has been opening doors and opening minds for its students since 1939, when it opened it own doors to 119 freshmen and nine faculty members in downtown Altoona. 66 years later, Penn State Altoona is still thriving, and the numbers keep on growing with more than 3800 students, approximately 200 full and part-time faculty and 300 full and part-time staff. They have 14 NCAA Division III athletic teams as well as 50+ clubs and student organizations, including fraternities, sororities, honor societies, pre-professional groups, student government, and recreational sports teams.
